A writ petition has been filed today with the High Court seeking a stay order on O level and A level examinations in October and November.
In the writ petition, the petitioner also asked to formulate a policy for the management of English medium schools.
Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Moniruzzaman Lincoln filed the writ petition on behalf of Tamanna Tabassum who is an A-level examinee.
Secretary of the Ministry of education, Secondary and Higher Education Secretary, Director Operations Examinations, British Council and others were made respondents in the writ petition.
Earlier on September 23, the Ministry of Education gave its approval to hold O level and A level examinations in November, with some conditions.
Earlier in the day, some English medium students sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's intervention to cancel the upcoming O and A level examinations.
Earlier on September 20, the British Council sent an application to the ministry asking for the examinations to be held under the UK boards, Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel.
A level exams under Cambridge International are scheduled to start on October 1. On the other hand, the exams under Pearson Edexcel are scheduled to begin on October 5.
Edexcel’s O level examinations are scheduled to start on November 2 while the exams under Cambridge International are scheduled to start on November 5.
