Writ filed seeking treatment for all

A writ petition has been filed with the High Court (HC) seeking its directives on government for ensuring treatment of both coronavirus and general patients in any public or private hospitals across the country.

Four Supreme Court lawyers— AM Jamiul Hoque, Md Nazmul Huda, Md Mehdi Hassan and AKM Ehsanur Rahman — collectively submitted the petition as Public Interest Litigation to the HC on Saturday.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Additional Secretary (Hospital), Deputy Secretary among others are made defendants of this writ.

The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim may hold hearing on the petition on Sunday.

The petitioners urged the HC to ask the authorities concerned to ensure the enforcement of the directives issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on May 11 so that no Covid-19 patientis denied treatment at any hospital.
