A writ has been filed with the High Court seeking to stop unnecessary foreign travel of government officials in defiance of government orders.

Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon of the Supreme Court filed the writ in High Court on Sunday.

"The writ may be heard in the High Court bench comprising Justices Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Khizir Hayat," said Barrister Sumon.

On May 12, the government issued a circular to stop government officials from traveling abroad except for special needs to reduce the pressure on foreign exchange reserves.

According to the circular, all types of foreign travel, including exposure visits, educational tours, APA and unbound travel for innovation and participation in workshops or seminars, will be suspended until economic recovery and the current global crisis.
