Another police official died from coronavirus while undergoing treatment at Central Police Hospital in Dhaka's Rajarbagh area on Saturday morning.
The deceased was sub-inspector Sultanul Arefin of Public Order Management division, confirmed Sohel Rana, additional inspector general (AIG) (media) of Police headquarters.
With this, a total of five police personnel have so far died being infected with the virus.
After being diagnosed with coronavirus, Arefin, 44, was admitted to the hospital.
As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to intensive care unit (ICU) where he died on Saturday morning, said AIG Sohel Rana.
Hailing from Jamalpur, Arefin left behind wife, two daughters and a son.
Earlier, on Friday, a sub-inspector of Special Branch of police died of coronavirus while undergoing treatment at the Rajarbagh’s Central Police Hospital.
Three other policemen also died from coronavirus last week.
