Police on Tuesday arrested a young man as he allegedly raped an eighth grader in Chandpura area of Barishal Sadar upazila.
The arrestee was identified as Sheikh Monir Hossain Jibon, 29, son of Altaf Hawladar.
Officer-in-Charge of Bandar Police Station Anowar Hossain said Jibon raped the girl when she was alone in the house in the afternoon.
Neighbors caught Jibon when the victim screamed and informed police, he said.
Victim's mother has filed a case over the matter, the OC said.
