Police arrested a youth for smearing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on social media at paburiachala in Shreepur of Gazipur on Monday night.
A case was filed by a union council member with Shreepur police station on Tuesday against Md Russelll, 25, son of late Hossain Ali of Paburiachala in Rajabari union of Shreepur.
Shreepur police inspector Golam Sarwar said the arrested youth Md Russelll, 25, recently launched a smear campaign against the PM and it triggered anger among local people.
'Local union council member lodged compliant with police in this regard and a case filed under ICT Act. The arrested was sent to court after arrest, he said.
