Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak has urged the country’s youth to come forward and invest in commercial agriculture to utilise Bangladesh’s immense potential in agribusiness.

“We want urban youth to come forward in agriculture and invest in commercial agriculture,” the minister said on Tuesday after receiving the prestigious RTV Agriculture Award-2022 for his outstanding contribution to the development of agriculture and food security in the country.

“There will be a transition from subsistence farming to commercial farming, as the government wants to commercialise the agriculture sector,” the minister also added.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim handed over the award to the agriculture minister at an award ceremony held at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital.

Mentioning that the government has been planning to export various agricultural products worldwide, Razzak also noted that the younger generation will be able to earn huge income from agricultural products by utilising the immense potential of agriculture to turn the country into a prosperous Bangladesh.

This year, eight persons and two organisations have been given this award under 10 categories.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sham Rezaul Karim MP addressed the function as a special guest.

RTV Chairman Morshed Alam MP, Managing Director Humayun Kabir, Chief Executive Officer Syed Ashiq Rahman, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam, NRBC Bank Chairman Parvez Tamal spoke on the occasion among others.
