Banani station’s Inspector Rana held in India

Inspector Sohel Rana of Banani Police Station was arrested near the India-Nepal border in West Bengal on Friday.

Border Guard Bangladesh Director Lt Col Faizur Rahman told The Business Post that India's Border Security Force (BSF) detained Rana. "BSF may officially inform Bangladesh Police through the Foreign Ministry as he was not near the India-Bangladesh border area," he said.

Rana was posted at the Banani Police Station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Deputy Commissioner of Gulshan division police Md Asaduzzaman said Rana was on duty last Thursday before he skipped work without any official reason. Asaduzzaman said he had heard that the inspector was detained in India.

Rana is the brother of e-commerce platform E-Orange owner Sonia Mehjabin.
