The Bangladesh Bank asked all non-bank financial institutions to refrain from sending or receiving postal goods through unlicensed courier companies.
The central bank on Tuesday issued a notice in this regard saying that accepting, transporting and distributing postal goods through unlicensed mailing operators and courier service companies is illegal as per the ‘Mailing Operator and Courier Service Rules, 2013’.
The notice was issued under section 18 (cha) of the financial institution law, 1993. The directive will be effective immediately, BB said.
Under the Posts and Telecommunications Division, all mail and courier service providers in the country are authorised and monitored by the Mailing Operator and Courier Services Licensing Authority.
