The Russian ambassador in Dhaka Alexander Vikentyevich Mantytskiy has urged the Bangladeshi business community to attend different trade fairs in Moscow for showcasing their products.

The envoy made the call during a meeting with president of Commonwealth of Independent States-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Habib Ullah Dawn held at his embassy office in the capital on Monday.

Alexander Vikentyevich has underscored the need for improving business to business cooperation between the two countries.

He also put emphasis on expediting the operation of the roadmap to implement the decisions of the 2nd protocol of Inter Government Commission.

“As both the Russian and Bangladesh governments are engaged in deep friendship since the independence of the country, there is huge scope for further fostering bilateral trade and commerce between the two friendly countries,” said the Russian envoy.

At the meeting, Habib Ullah Dawn said that the mutual trade and economic cooperation would be more broad-based and deepened further in future.

“We should improve connectivity with Russia through shipping cargo, warehouse facilities in Russia and adequate banking facilities on both sides for smooth transaction in business,” said Habib.

He also noted that there is a huge potential of Bangladesh RMG products in the Russian market which should be tapped fully to enhance the export of RMG, garments, accessories, pharmaceuticals, leather goods, seafood and other products in Russia.

The meeting was attended, among others, by CIS-BCCI senior vice president Mohammad Ali Deen.
