BEPZA eases customs services for EPZ investors

Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority has moved one-step forward in its One-Stop Service by easing customs related services both for the foreign and local investors in the export processing zones.

From now on, the investors in the country’s EPZs will get 21 types of customs related services easily through online to this effect.

The customs related services includes issuance of bond registrations, import-export customs permissions, release of duty free import goods by hand carry, permission of bring-back, ship-back etc., bond to bond transfer, machine loan, NOC/clearance for selling of old machinery to Domestic Tariff Area, machine repair permissions, inspection and clearance of export- import goods, container and cargo etc.

Apart from that the investors will also get various services related to commissariat in the EPZs without difficulty.

To ease the customs related services for the foreign and local investors of the EPZs, BEPZA and National Board of Revenue signed a Memorandum of Understanding at BEPZA Complex in the capital on Thursday. In presence of the executive chairman of BEPZA major general Md Nazrul Islam, BEPZA member (Investment Promotion) Ali Reza Mazid and NBR member (Customs policy & ICT) Syed Golam Kibria signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.

Addressing the MoU signing agreement, Md Nazrul Islam said, “The role of NBR is essential to increase the economic potentiality of the country.”

He also hoped that the investors would get all the services provided by NBR easily after the signing of this MoU.

“As NBR is committed to provide the highest level of services as per law, we are hoping to work together to move the country forward to meet the vision of a developed nation,” said Syed Golam Kibria.

The importance of customs is immense to continue hassle-free and uninterrupted production flows in EPZs and keep functioning import-export activities. The investors of EPZs will get time-bound services which will expedite One-Stop Service of the BEPZA.

Mentionable, BEPZA already signed MoU with Fire Service & Civil Defence, registrar of Joint Stock Companiesand Firms, Department of Environment and Security Service Division of Home Ministry to expedite the One-Stop Service.
