Int’l Blockchain Olympiad kicks off in Bangladesh

The much-awaited International Blockchain Olympiad (IBCOL) 2021 started in Bangladesh on Friday.

The inaugural ceremony of the three-day multidisciplinary design and building competition was held at the BCC Auditorium of ICT Tower in the capital’s Agargaon.

Addressing the young participants, Planning Minister MA Mannan, chief guest of the event, said, “You need to engage yourself in hard work as well as doing research, going out, and taking risks to build your future.”

“You have to build your future not only by dreaming but also through hard work,” he said.

Special guest State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the 12 winning teams of Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh 2021 were participating in the international stage of the event. “This is a matter of pride for us,” he said.

“The young minds are the torchbearers of future progress. I believe more university students will take part in the 2022 International Blockchain Olympiad,” he added.

Students from all over the world are participating in this global contest. Prizes worth more than $40,000 will be awarded to the winners.

A total of 12 countries are participating in the competition – China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Nepal, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh –with 50 teams in total.
