Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen on Saturday said the glorious history of Bangladesh’s struggle for liberation under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the country’s remarkable progress with immense potential should be highlighted across the world.

The minister said this while inaugurating a photography exhibition titled “Bangladesh 1971: Mourning and Morning” at the Liberation War Museum (LWM) in the capital, a press release said.

On the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence, the month-long exhibition was organised jointly by the LWM and the Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) with 50 selected photographs taken by the iconic French photographer Marc Riboud, best known for his photojournalistic works in Bangladesh during the 1971 Liberation War.

Momen, who was the chief guest at the event, said, “Finding out the unpublished photographs of the Bangali’s long struggle for liberation and the glorious Liberation War, we have to let the new generation, as well as the world, know about it.”

Mentioning the foreign ministry’s involvement in collecting the rare photographs of Marc Riboud, he said, “We can find more unpublished and rare photographs and videos of our Liberation War through search in different countries. The Foreign Ministry will always continue its effort and cooperation in this regard.”
