4IR to help cut cost of trade: Tipu Munshi

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today said the cost of trade and commerce will decrease in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

“We have to be ready for 4IR. There is no alternative to the use of technology in all fields. The new generation needs to be able to keep pace with the time for expanding trade and commerce,” he said.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop on ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution: A Tool to Expand Trade’ at the Commerce Ministry conference room in the city, said a press release. Commerce Ministry and Bangladesh Computer Samity jointly organized the workshop. Tipu said in the current era, 4IR and digital technology have reduced the cost of cross-border trade.

“All business related tasks have been made easier and costs have reduced. There is a lot of skilled manpower in ICT in the country now. In 2041, Bangladesh will emerge as a developed country in the world,” he said.

Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh attended the workshop as the special guest while President of the Bangladesh Computer Samity Md Shaid-ul-Munir presided over it.
