The e-commerce platform of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) is attracting more entrepreneurs offering them options to sell their products in domestic and international markets.
The small entrepreneurs who do not own e-commerce platforms are now displaying products on BSCIC online market.
BSCIC data showed 350 entrepreneurs had joined the platform, and thousands of others would join soon.
Currently, honey, ghee, dress, leather and handicrafts are top sold products among the nearly 250 segments available on the online market, BSCIC sources said.
“The entrepreneurs have found an opportunity to display products easily and can connect with the buyers directly. Consumers are also getting access to locally made products from anywhere,” said Ali Asgar Nasir, the deputy manager of BSCIC marketing.
He said they were optimistic about becoming the top e-commerce platform in Bangladesh.
“We are now focusing on ensuring timely delivery of goods and developing the technical support to make the platform effective,” he added.
The e-commerce platform (www.bscic-emarket.gov.bd) was inaugurated on September 16 with 195 entrepreneurs.
Through this online market, anyone can buy products from local and foreign markets. There is an option to pay in US Dollar, Russian Ruble, Singapore Dollar, Swedish Krona and Bangladeshi Taka.
Kamrun Naher, an entrepreneur who works on Nakshi Katha in Rajbari, said that she would display her products in the BSCIC online market soon.
Previously, big companies could export locally made products but the e-commerce platform makes export possible for small entrepreneurs too, she added.
