Sheikh Fazle Fahim new IORBF chair

Sheikh Fazle Fahim has been elected as the chairman of the Indian Ocean Rim Business Forum, a primary body for business representatives formed to formulate policies and project recommendations to Indian Ocean Rim Association member states.

Since the establishment of IORA in 1997, Bangladesh has been elected for the first time as chair for two years until 2023, said a press release. 

The 23rd meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials of IORA was held on November 15 and 16 while the 21st Council of Ministers will take place on November 17.

More than 80 representatives, including 12 ministers of 23 countries and nine dialogue partners are attending the events in Dhaka.

Fahim, a former president of the FBCCI, specified the challenges in supply chain disruptions, rising cost of trade logistics, decline in private sector investment, and inflation.
