Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said that eight 15-storey hospitals for the treatment of cancer, kidney and liver are being constructed in each of the eight divisions of the country, which will reduce people's out-of-pocket expenditure on healthcare.
The Minister announced this while speaking as chief guest at an event organized by the Health Economics Unit of the Health Services Department at a city hotel yesterday. The discussion event was focused on out-of-pocket expenditure on healthcare. He said such expenses have been increasing for non-communicable diseases like cancer, heart and kidney diseases. Many families become almost destitute due to these diseases that account for the highest number of deaths in the country every year.
