Experts for creating ‘brain worker’ friendly environment

Experts and entrepreneurs emphasised creating a congenial atmosphere in Bangladesh to provide local talents facilities and scope to contribute to research and development, especially in the engineering and hi-tech sectors.

The call was made from a virtual webinar titled ‘Promoting the Startup Ecosystem in Bangladesh’ on Wednesday jointly arranged by Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) with the Bangladesh Angels Network to create a stronger regional corporations and accelerate the startup ecosystem in Bangladesh.

The panelists shared their respective experiences and explained how their solutions contribute to the climate adaptation plan.

While discussing what has been some of the biggest challenges in building the local talent pipeline, they cited the immense potential of the Bangladeshi talent pool.

Commenting on what are some of the reasons behind brain drain in the country, Julian Weber, CEO of SELISE, said that the cost of living is the driving factor for brain drain. For income levels of $15,000 per household and year, Bangladesh is extremely expensive due to built-in costs from import duties and complexities.
