SME Fair from Sunday

Ninth National Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Fair 2021 is set to begin in the capital from Sunday aiming to display and sell homemade products.

Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Foundation will organise the nine-day fair with support of the Industries Ministry where 325 SME industries with 60 per cent female entrepreneurs will participate.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has provided her consent to inaugurate the 9th SME Fair on December 5 as the chief guest, said Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun in a press briefing at Parjatan Bhaban in Agargaon area on Thursday.

During the inauguration session, four winners of the “National SME Entrepreneurs Prize 2021” will get certificates and cheques on behalf of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he stated.

The fair with 325 stall capacities will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center of the capital where no foreign or imported products will be allowed.

The fair will remain open for visitors from 10 am to 8 pm daily.

Among the participants of this year’s fair, 116 SME entrepreneurs are connected with the fashion design sector. Apart from them, entrepreneurs related to leather sector, food or agriculture procurement sector, handicraft, Jute, IT, Herbal and organic product, Jewellery and plastic sectors will also participate in the fair.

Industries Minister will be present on the closing ceremony of the fair on December 12. The fair would also house media center, blood donation center, seller-buyer meeting booth for the visitors.

State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Secretary of Industries Ministry Zakia Sultana, SME Foundation Chairman Md Masudur Rahman and Managing Director of the organisation Md Mafizur Rahman were also present at the briefing, among others.
