Bangladesh should focus on strengthening economic prospects and boosting flow of Japanese investments, while cost and management accountants must play a key role in ensuring efficiency of this process.
Experts, at a seminar on “Economic Collaboration between Bangladesh and Japan: Public and Private Sector Investment,” also highlighted the importance of collaboration among the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) and Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI), Japanese companies and policy makers.
They added that the collaboration is crucial for improving the business environment of Bangladesh and creating more opportunities for engaging CMAs in the value added activities of Japanese companies and development projects.
Dhaka Branch Council (DBC), ICMAB, and JBCCI jointly organised the event on Wednesday at the ICMAB Ruhul Quddus Auditorium in Dhaka. ITO Naoki, ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh and Hayakawa Yuho, JICA Chief, attended as the chief guest and special guest respectively.
DBC’s Vice Chairman Dr Syed A Mamun FCMA moderated the event.
Yuji Ando, chief representative of JETRO; AKM Delwer Hussain FCMA, president of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA); Abu Bakar Siddique FCMA, president of ICMAB; AKM Kamruzzaman FCMA, treasurer of ICMAB; and Bakhtiar Alam FCMA, chairman of DBC; Asif A Chowdhury, president of JBCCI and Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan, secretary general of JBCCI were also present at the programme.
