The Global Institute for Food Security (GIFS) of the Canada’s University of Saskatchewan has opened an office in Dhaka aiming at collaborating agriculture-related research with the local institutes.
Agriculture Minister M Abdur Razzaque inaugurated the office set up on the premises of the Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council (BARC) on Sunday, according to a statement from the agriculture ministry.
Speaking at the event, the minister said, “Saskatchewan has a worldwide reputation for producing versatile and quality agricultural food. Opening this office in Dhaka, their technology and experience can be utilized. Cooperation between Bangladesh and Canada in the field of agriculture will be further strengthened.”
