REHAB Fair begins in Dhaka from Dec 23

The five-day Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) Fair-2021 will start at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka from December 23.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi is expected to inaugurate the fair where REHAB members will showcase their housing solutions, said REHAB Vice President Engineer Mohd Shohel Rana during a press conference in Dhaka’s Pan Pacific Sonargaon on Sunday.

It will be the country’s largest real estate fair that would promote the sector, he added.

“Some 220 stalls, with building material suppliers and financial institutions, will take part in the fair. Of them, there will be two diamond pavilions, six gold sponsors, 22 co-sponsors, 15 building materials and 13 finance investors in the fair,” the REHAB vice president said.

The fair will remain open from 10:00 am to 9:00pm every day. The entry ticket has been fixed at Tk50 for single and Tk100 for multiple. The organiser will raffle off exciting prizes at the fair every night. The fair will end on December 27, he added.

“The recent price hike of construction materials created a vast impact in the real estate sector,” Kamal Mahmud, another vice president of REHAB, said while replying to questions.

“Our many projects have been immobile due to construction materials’ price hike in the country. The government should form a monitoring cell for market observation so that traders cannot increase the materials prices as per their desire,” he added.

Kamal added that they will be able to fix project cost properly based on data of the monitoring cell. “We have been contributing to the country’s GDP growth for the last several decades. We have 269 linkage industries including rod, cement and tiles. Around 40 lakh people directly engaged in the real estate sector. We have around 15 per cent contribution to our economic growth,” he also added.
