Two people were killed and 10 others injured after a train rammed a bus stuck on a level crossing in Narayanganj on Sunday evening.
Police are yet to identify the victims. The accident took place in the No 1 Railgate area around 6:00pm.
Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mostain Billah told The Business Post that a bus of Ananda Paribahan got stuck on the level crossing due to traffic congestion. Although the driver saw the train approaching, he could not move the vehicle but the passengers managed to get off the bus.
DC Billah said it was unclear if the deceased were bus passengers. The injured were admitted to a local hospital.
The district administration said it would provide Tk 25,000 to each of the deceased’s family and Tk 15,000 for treatment of each of the injured.
