Unique Hotel ‘will give good returns’ next year

Listed luxurious hotel company Unique Hotel and Resorts Limited (UHRL) is optimistic about overcoming the challenges and offering good returns to its shareholders next year.

At its 20th annual general meeting (AGM) held virtually on Monday, UHRL shareholders approved a 10 per cent cash dividend for the year ending on June 30, 2021.

“We are optimistic about the company’s future and our ability to continue to deliver superior returns to our shareholders in the coming years overcoming all challenges,” said Freedom Fighter Mohammad Noor Ali, the company's Managing Director, according to a press release. 

At the AGM, the shareholders also approved the audited accounts, directors’ report and auditor’s report for FY21. 

Salina Ali, chairperson of the company’s board of directors, presided over the meeting while its Advisor Dr Khondaker Showkat Hossain joined it. Salina said travel restrictions and stay-at-home orders caused a sharp decline in hotel occupancies and revenues.

During the lockdown, the company paid its employees’ salaries, utility and bills from other sources. "We are doing better now and hope to regain the business soon," she added. 

Noor Ali thanked the company's employees for their dedication and continuing hotel operation during the pandemic.  

Independent Director and Audit Committee Chairman Forkan Uddin, Independent Directors NKA Mobin and Mohammed Ahsan Ullah, Nominated Directors Rtn. Ghulam Mustafa, Md Saiful Islam, Md Khaled Noor, Gazi Md Shakhawat Hossain, Mohammad Golam Sarwar and Director-Regulatory Affairs and Company Secretary Md Sharif Hasan, GM of Finance and Accounts Mohammad Abu Naser, GM of Internal Audit SM Mosabbirul Islam and other high officials of the company attended the virtual AGM. 

A large number of shareholders also joined the meeting.
