Let your tattoos speak

A real artist not only displays talent through one form of art, but through a versatile spectrum, and this is exactly what makes us unique compared to traditional tattoo studios, CEO of Inkpark Tattoo Studio and internationally certified tattoo artist Avijit Saha told The Business Post’s Tasrifa Trisha in an exclusive interview

The parlour – located in Mirpur DOHS – is gaining popularity among aficionados with its wide range of exclusive, attractive, stylish and trendy tattoos.

When did you set your mind to become a tattoo artist?

I had a tremendous fascination with drawing and painting ever since I was a child. After completing my graduation in Fashion Designing from Shanto-Mariam University, I started my career as a fashion designer and stylist.

I achieved significant success in this sector, but somehow, my career satisfaction remained unfulfilled. There has always been a special corner in my heart for tattooing, which made me set my mind to become a tattoo artist. The realisation came in 2007.

How did you prepare become a professional tattoo artist?

In 2007, I underwent a basic tattoo training course from Kolkata’s Ink Wizard Tattoo Studio, and then I started tattooing on a part-time basis. I realised that I have to hone my skills so that the quality of my tattoos can be exclusive and different than other local artists.

As I decided to take up tattooing as my main profession, my thirst for picking up more tattooing skills increased more and more.

When did your tattoo studio start its journey?

Inkpark Tattoo Studio started its journey in December 2016, at a time when there were very few tattoo studios in our country.

Did you face any obstacles at the beginning of your career?

Yes, obviously. After I decided to be a tattoo artist by profession, some people considered me their competitor. At one time I was even kidnapped, but luckily, I managed to get free.

I then decided to go to Mumbai to study more on tattooing so that I can establish myself as a professional tattoo artist with a higher level of potential compared to existing local artists.

On July 2019, I went to Mumbai to get training from Alien’s Tattoo School, one of the most famous tattoo training institutions in the world.

What services do you provide?

We provide “Good Vibrations Ink” which is a key asset of an artist-owned tattoo shop competing on a global level. Here, a customer will get to experience true dedication, professionalism, skill and efficiency.

What’s your mission and vision?

We create out of love for what we do. Our mission is to bring your truest soul to the surface.

Our vision is to open branches and tattoo training schools in every small town and district in our country so that younger generations can find the charm in tattooing, and get well trained in this field.

They can also choose tattooing as a profession, which in turn will help the solve unemployment issue in this competitive job market.

Tell us about the tattoos you offer, price range and appointment process?

We usually offer customised, small, large, script, symbolic, mythological, free hand, colour, and cover up tattoos. The prices vary depending on types, size, designs and requirements of the clients. The price range starts from Tk 2,500 and reach up to Tk 30,000.

People from anywhere of the country can set up appointments via our website inkparktattoo.com or visit to our studio located at the Mirpur DOHS in the capital.

What is the earning potential of a tattoo artist?

Though there is some shortage of potential clients, but as the industry is growing, the number of clients with liberal mindset is growing too. I also get many foreigners as clients. I earn between 1.5 lakh and 2 lakhs per month.

But I work to bring the smile of satisfaction on the face of our respected clients. I prioritise winning the heart of millions rather than to earn millions.
