60 businesses win ICMAB Best Corporate Awards

60 businesses win ICMAB Best Corporate Awards

Sixty organisations have received the “Best Corporate Award 2020” from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) for their performance in corporate governance.

The ICMAB at its flagship event organised at a hotel in the capital on Thursday recognised the organisations in 17 categories after reviewing their performances based on their respective annual reports.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi addressed the ceremony as the chief guest while Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Chairman of Standard Bank and former president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, and President of South Asian Federation of Accountants AKM Delwer Hussain FCMA spoke at the event as special guests.

The award categories are nationalised commercial bank; private commercial bank; private commercial bank (Islamic operation); non-bank financial institution; general insurance; life insurance; pharmaceuticals; cement; textile; multinational company manufacturing; other manufacturing; power generation; oil, gas and energy; NGO; agro and food processing; trading and assembly; and telecommunication.

In the nationalised commercial bank category, Sonali Bank won the 1st (gold) award and Rupali Bank the 2nd (silver).

In the private commercial bank category, the 1st (gold) award went to BRAC Bank while Dutch-Bangla Bank and Trust Bank jointly won the 2nd (silver) award. Pubali Bank received the 3rd (bronze) award.

In the private commercial bank (Islamic operation) category, the 1st (gold) award went to Islami Bank Bangladesh, the 2nd (silver) to Al-Arafah Islami Bank, and the 3rd (bronze) to Shahjalal Islami Bank.

In non-bank financial institution category, the 1st (gold) award went to IDLC Finance, the 2nd (silver) to IPDC Finance, and the 3rd (bronze) jointly to LankaBangla Finance and Delta Brac Housing Finance Corporation.

In general insurance category, the 1st (gold) award went to Green Delta Insurance Company, the 2nd (silver) to Nitol Insurance Co, and the 3rd (bronze) jointly to Reliance Insurance Limited and Pioneer Insurance Company.

In life insurance category, Pragati Life Insurance Co won the 1st (gold) award, Sandhani Life Insurance Company the 2nd (silver), and Meghna Life Insurance Co the 3rd (bronze).

In pharmaceuticals manufacturing category, the 1st (gold) award went to Square Pharmaceuticals, the 2nd (silver) jointly to Beximco Pharmaceuticals and Orion Pharma, and the 3rd (bronze) jointly to Renata Limited and ACI Limited. In cement manufacturing category, the 1st (gold) award went to Premier Cement Mills, the 2nd (silver) to LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, and the 3rd (bronze) to MI Cement Factory.

In textile manufacturing category, the 1st (gold) award went to Paramount Textile, the 2nd (silver) to Square Textile, and the 3rd (bronze) to Envoy Textiles.

In multinational company manufacturing category, the 1st (gold) award went to British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company, the 2nd (silver) to Marico Bangladesh, and the 3rd (bronze) to Berger Paints Bangladesh.

In other manufacturing category, the 1st (gold) award went to Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills, the 2nd (silver) to RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh), and the 3rd (bronze) to BBS Cables.

In power generation category, the 1st (gold) award went to Summit Power, the 2nd (silver) jointly to United Power Generation and Distribution Co and Doreen Power Generations and Systems, and the 3rd (bronze) jointly to Baraka Power and Dhaka Power Distribution Company.

In oil, gas and energy category, the 1st (gold) award went to Linde Bangladesh, the 2nd (silver) to MJL Bangladesh, and the 3rd (bronze) to Meghna Petroleum.

In NGO category, the 1st (gold) award went to BRAC, the 2nd (silver) to UCEP Bangladesh, and the 3rd (bronze) jointly to ActionAid Bangladesh and Ghashful.

In agro and food processing category, the 1st (gold) award went to Olympic Industries, the 2nd (silver) to Agricultural Marketing Co, and the 3rd (bronze) to Golden Harvest Agro Industries.

In trading and assembly category, the 1st (gold) award went to Runner Automobiles, the 2nd (silver) to Chittagong Dry Dock, and the 3rd (bronze) jointly to Aftab Automobiles and Dockyard and Engineering Works.

In telecommunication category, the 1st (gold) award went to Grameenphone, the 2nd (silver) to Robi Axiata, and the 3rd (bronze) jointly to Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company and aamra networks.
