Three more Omicron cases detected

Three new cases of Omicron variant of the Covid-19 have been reported in Bangladesh raising the number to 10.

The Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID) on Friday reported that among the new patients, two are females, aged 49 and 65, while another is a 65-year-old male.

All of them were from Dhaka, according to the data submitted by the Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives (ideSHi) in Dhaka.

On December 11, Bangladesh for the first time detected the Omicron variant of coronavirus in two female cricketers of the national women’s cricket team, who had returned from Zimbabwe.

Bangladesh for the first time detected a coronavirus case in March 8, 2020 and declared first death on March 18, 2020.

Two more deaths, 512 new infections

Bangladesh registered two more Covid related deaths and 512 new infections in 24hrs until Friday morning.

According to the latest data, the number of total fatalities reached 28,072.

After adding the fresh cases, the total number of caseloads jumped to 15,85,539 said a regular bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 18,673 samples at 852 laboratories across the country.

At the same time, 290 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,49,101.
