BB asks banks not to fire employees without specific reasons

The Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday asked the banks not to terminate any employees without any specific and proven allegations.

The central bank also said that the deposit mobilisation achieving target cannot be imposed for promotion, according to a notice.

The Bangladesh Bank issued the fresh notice in clarification to a previous one issued on January 20.

The Banks and payment services providers will have to ensure uninterrupted payment services in any case created by the Covid-19 pandemic, said the central bank notice issued on the day.

The BB said that the banks and financial institutions will have to formulate and implement the effective business continuity plans.

Banks and other payment service providers will have to discourage public gatherings at its branches and should encourage card based transactions, as per BB notice.
