Former president of Dhaka Stock Exchange Rakibur Rahman passed away at United Hospital in the capital at 12:30pm on Friday.
He had been suffering from prostate cancer for several years.
He was 72 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, two sons and numerous admirers.
Rakibur was the founding president of Sheikh Russel Jatiya Shishu-Kishore Council.
After Namaz-e-janaza at Gulshan Azad mosque in the capital, Rakibur Rahman had buried in Banani graveyard.
On March 14, he was brought to the country in an air ambulance from a hospital in Thailand and was admitted to the intensive care unit of United hospital in critical condition. He was taken to Thailand for treatment in December last year.
Rakibur, chairman of Midway Securities Limited, was a member of the DSE’s board of directors intermittently for about 18 years.
