Bangladesh, Japanese firms hold 48 meetings

Bangladeshi and Japanese firms held 48 meetings at the third business matching programme of the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI), which ended recently with great success.

A total of 25 Bangladeshi companies took part in the event to have one-to-one meetings with 38 Japanese firms. The programme continued from February 24 to March 15.

The sectors that Bangladeshi companies discussed with Japanese investors include construction, rural infrastructure, civil engineering and design, energy and industrial infrastructure, shipping and logistics, plastic, paper and pulp, chemical, food, agriculture, polypropylene, industrial park and robot, ICT and software development, industrial machinery, forest product, medical and health care equipment, solar power plant, machinery and tool, injection moulding, insulating paint, groundwater treatment for drinking, industrial water treatment, accounting and taxation, market survey, and investment and management consultancy.

The areas of interest from both sides were diversified and non-traditional this time while a good number of understandings were reached among the participating companies. It is expected that a good number of ventures will be materialised.

With support from the Bangladesh embassy in Japan, the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) Tokyo and Haison International organised the programme.

The first and second programmes were held in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
