Engineer Farjana Akhter, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, Bangladesh achieved a doctorate degree from the University of South Australia (UniSA).
She earned an MSc degree from the Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven, Belgium and a BSc degree from BUET, according to a statement.
She is the first lady engineer of Public Works Department who obtained Doctorate degree. Her research topic was Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD). This is a new concept of modernization of drainage system which will eliminate waterlogging by recharging groundwater by conserving rainwater.
Her husband, Engineer Mohammad Abul Hossain Tuhin is currently doing research on the Teesta water distribution problem at the University of South Australia. Her father, Md Akram Hossain is a retired bank officer and his mother, Ferdousi Khatun is a housewife.
