However, no one had died after being admitted to the hospital.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)'s disease control branch, around 5,00,000 people in the country have been treated for diarrhoea since January. Two of them died while undergoing with the treatment.

DGHS Director Professor Nazmul Islam advised the patients not to come Mohakhali Cholera Hospital from far away.

“Diarrhea treatment is being provided in all the hospitals at the local level. Even diarrhoea wards have been opened at Mugda Medical College and Hospital and Sir Salimullah Medical College for south and east city patients,” the director added.

“Because of the distance and delay for the traffic jams, many patients get dehydrated as they do not get saline on time,” he also said.
