As the pandemic-induced restrictions are gone, traders as well as the Eid shoppers are trying to make the best out of the situation.

The last two years of Covid-19 left a lasting stain on the mode of business and the way the very auspicious occasion Eid ul-Fitr is observed.

“Pandemic took the shine off our business, causing a disaster literally. This year we intend to make gain by offering a series of combo packs which are likely to offset the earlier loss to some extent,” said clothing traders.

“Local and foreign brands are ready to invite customers with a variety of combo offers – let it be for couple, family or whatever.”

With just a few days away from the two biggest festivals – Eid ul-Fitr and Pahela Baishakh, which are traditionally celebrated by wearing new clothes, the capital’s malls and outlets are abuzz with the presence of shoppers.

“It is definitely the busiest time of the year because people either buy gifts for themselves or for their loved ones while we are making gorgeous combo offers to help them get a real taste of shopping,” said Ariful Khukon, outlet manager of Twelve Clothing Ltd.

“We offer combo packs for couple with Kurti and Punjabi selling at Tk 3,480 and other three designs with two Punjabis for father and son at Tk 2,980.”

Chandrabindu Fashion House attracts customers with five designs for mother and daughter, the price of which ranges from Tk 2,750 to Tk 5,400.

Anjans is waiting for a massive crowd of Eid shoppers offering three to four combo packs comprised of Saree and Punjabi which are priced at around Tk 12,000.

One of the packs is aimed at father, mother, daughter and son, and the others for couple.

Besides, Anjans offers customised packs that include Punjabi and Three Pieces or One Piece to its valued customers.

“We have combo offers for couple as well as for family for Eid and Pahela Baishakh. The price would be around Tk 6,500 for couples while for family it would go around Tk 8,500 to Tk 9,000.

Another outlet called Demand is also giving away different such offers.

The outlet takes customers by surprise by its specialised Kabli Punjabi. There are 11 types Kabli Panjabis and one type of normal Panjabi for father and son in this outlet.

Kabli sells at around Tk 5,000 and normal Punjabi around Tk 3,000.

Likewise, Gentle Park has come up with only one combo pack but the brand insiders said new designs would hit their outlets soon.

“Now we have just one combo offer priced at Tk 6790, and more will come soon,” they asserted.

Manhood, another fashion house, held out some extra offers for father and son with Punjabi and Shirts.

It gives out three Panjabi-based and more than six shirt-based combo packs. The price for Punjabis ranges from Tk 3,680 to Tk 3,380 while that for shirts from Tk 2,580 to Tk 2,780.

Grammen Shamver sells just two-colour Punjabis for father and son. The combo price would be Tk 2,850 to Tk 3,000 while well-known clothing seller Easy is also upbeat about making good sale of its lucrative outfits.

Tanim Hossain, medical representative of a pharmaceutical company, came with his wife and two-year old son to purchase for Eid.

“The last two years were totally a mess. We could not celebrate the holy occasion and the first day of the Bengali New Year well enough,” he recalled.

“We could not even make purchase, especially dresses, for all. This year we have come with preparation to buy matching outfit for all of us.”
