No gas supply in Savar, Bogura on Eid day

Gas supply to all customers in Savar and Bogura will be completely cut off for 48 hours from 10:00pm on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, and official of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited confirmed on Tuesday.

The natural gas distributor of the country will conduct emergency maintenance work on the gas transmission pipeline during the period, Abu Sadat Md Sayem, zonal office manager of Titas Gas in Savar said.

He said all parts of Savar, Ashulia and Gazipur’s Kashimpur area under the zone would be out of gas for the announced time following a schedule issued by Petrobangla.

The zone currently has a total of 51,000 residential customers as well as 1,500 commercial customers including industrial plants, according to Titas Gas sources.

Abu Sadat said gas supply to Dhamrai of Dhaka will also be cut off during the announced period. The gas supply will be restored after the completion of the emergency maintenance work.

There will be no gas supply in Bogura for up to 48 hours, from 10pm on Eid day, he said.

Pashchimanchal Gas Company Limited (PGCL) has decided to suspend gas supply in Bogura district for repair work of Petrobangla’s GTCL on the east side of Bangabandhu Bridge, confirmed PGCL Bogura Regional Office Deputy General Manager (DGM) Engineer Debdeep Barua on Monday.

Debdeep Barua said gas supply to residential, commercial factories and CNG stations will be suspended for the next 48 hours from 10pm on Eid day.

PGCL has at least 30,000 residential and commercial customers in Bogura.

Debdeep said this decision will increase the suffering of the people during Eid as the pressure will be less in all areas in the district.

Besides, there is a lot of work and traffic on the road on other days, he added. “With all this in mind, the next 48 hours from Eid night have been selected to suspend the gas supply for the work.”
