The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Dhaka celebrated the inaugural Turkish Cuisine Week with an evening of culinary adventure hosted by Ambassador Mustafa Osman Turan at the embassy premises in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Held for the first time this year from May 21 to 27, Turkish Cuisine Week aims to showcase Turkish dishes in their original glory.

It is being celebrated across the world with events where meals are prepared with creative presentations by Turkey’s world-famous cooks, according to a press release.

Turkish Cuisine Week is a manifestation of the vision to promote the richness of Turkish cuisine to a global audience. To that end, a gastronomy book titled ‘Turkish Cuisine with Timeless Recipes’ was recently published under the leadership of First Lady Emine Erdoğan and under the auspices of the Presidency, in cooperation with the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The book features contributions from prominent chefs, academics, and experts; simultaneously, it draws attention to the famous Turkish cuisine and its waste-free, ecological, and sustainable characteristics.

Turkish Cuisine Week is the celebration of the initiative, a culinary story articulated through the language of flavours.

In celebration, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Dhaka hosted a gala dinner titled ‘Culinary Encounters’ where featured recipes were by the talented Chef Levent Karahan, Executive Chef of Le Méridien, Dhaka.

Chef Levent’s journey began at a very early age from his homeland in Turkey. Having worked at various world-renowned chain hotels across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, he has more than 25 years of culinary experience.

Culinary Encounters hosted a diverse group of 60 distinguished guests including business people, artists, journalists, influencers and food bloggers. The partners of the event were Bengal Group, ICE Media Limited, Le Méridien Dhaka and Maasranga Television.
