The 29th Chittagong International Trade Fair, organised by The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, CCCI, will kick off on Tuesday.

The month-long fair is going to be arranged at Railway Polo Ground in the city, CCCI President Mahbubul Alam said at a press conference held at Bangabandhu Hall of Chittagong World Trade Center on Sunday.

"We have been organising the Chittagong International Trade Fair for the last 28 years, intending to promote domestic products," he said.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will inaugurate the fair on May 31 as the chief guest.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the fair could not be organised for the last two years. The fair will be held this year due to the enormous enthusiasm of the participating organisations and potential visitors.

India, Thailand and Iran will showcase their products through different stalls at this year's fair.

Small and medium entrepreneurs will showcase their products at the fair, Mahbubul Alam said. Various prominent industrial groups in the country and abroad are also setting up pavilions. More than 310 companies in total are participating in the fair.

“A modern Bangabandhu Pavilion has been set up at this year's fair,” the CCCI president mentioned.

Aiming to invite a large crowd, the price of a visitor's ticket has been kept at Tk 15, the same as last time. Free tickets have been arranged for the students of playgroup to class 8 of different schools in the city.

Senior vice-president of the chamber Tarafdar Ruhul Amin, Vice-president Syed Mohammad Tanvir, co-chairman and members of the fair committee and members of the board of directors of the chamber were present at the press conference.
