The ongoing eight mega project of the country is going on in full swing with the overall progress of 69 per cent till April this year.
The government has already spent Tk 1,64,601 crore out of a total Tk 2,27,892 crore allocated for those projects, according to the progress report of April prepared by the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division of the Planning Commission.
The projects are Padma Multipurpose Bridge, Payra Port, Chattogram-Cox's Bazar RailLlink, Rampal Super Thermal Power Project, Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (MRT-6), Padma Rail Link, Matarbari 2x600MW Ultra Super Critical Coal-Fired Power and Maitree Super Thermal Power Project.
Padma Multipurpose Bridge
The construction works of much-awaited Padma Multipurpose Bridge project has been completed and it will be open to transportation. The project is scheduled to be inaugurated on June 25 by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The physical progress of the project was 93.50 per cent while the financial progress of the project was 90.55 per cent in April.
Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant
The works of the biggest ever Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project is going at full steam. The financial progress of the project is 45.35 per cent while the physical progress of the project is 47.50 per cent.
Metro Rail Service (MRT-6)
The trial run of metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon has been completed. IMED report said the financial progress of the project was 81.18 per cent while the physical progress of the project was 87 per cent.
Payra Sea Port
The financial progress of the Payra Seaport is 72.30 per cent while the physical progress of the project is 85 per cent. IMED report said the project would be completed by June 2022.
Padma Rail Link Project
The progress of the Padma Rail Link project is going fast. The financial progress of the project is 57.79 per cent while the physical progress of the project is 57.50 per cent.
Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar-Dohazari Rail Line Project
The physical progress of this project is 70 per cent while the financial progress of the project is 35.95 per cent.
Rampal Power Plant
The power plant, also known as Maitree Super Thermal Power Project, has two units, each with 660MW production capacity. The project has not been included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP).
The physical progress of the project is 80.88 per cent while its financial progress is 77.51 per cent. The cost of the project is estimated at Tk 16,000 crore.
Matarbari Power Plant
There has been 57.90 per cent progress of the Matarbari Power Plant project while the financial progress of the project is 45.11 per cent.
