The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has reduced the price of 12kg cylinders of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Tk 93.
Such cylinders will now cost Tk 1,242, down from Tk 1,335 in May.
The new rate will be effective from Thursday, according to a press release of the commission issued on Thursday.
The price of per kilogram of LPG was fixed at Tk 103.52 for the month of June which was Tk 111.26 in May.
The commission also reduced the price of per litre auto-gas used for motor vehicles to Tk 57.91 from Tk 62.21 for the month of June.
The price of per tonne propane dropped from $850 to $759 and the price of butane dropped to $750 from $860 in the international market, according to Saudi CP. This new price is set for the month of June considering the fall in the prices of the two components. The ratio of propane and butane in LPG is 35:65.
Incidentally, the international fuel market became volatile over the Russia-Ukraine crisis. As a result, the prices of fuel oil, LNG and LPG shot up initially but now they are going down again. It is also affecting the country’s market.
According to the new decision, the price of centrally reticulated LPG used in homes has also been reduced. The price was fixed Tk 108.02 per kg down from Tk 100.29.
