MLSS of BB seek pay rise, scrap outsourcing

Contractual members of lower subordinate staff (MLSS) of Bangladesh Bank recently requested the governor to raise their wages and eliminate third-party outsourcing.

MLSS summited a request letter to the Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir in this regard, stating that they want no outsourcing contract with the third-party company named Ornate Group.

MLSS called for the central bank to establish a direct contract with the staff, without any third-party involvement. If this demand is agreed upon, then Bangladesh Bank will no longer pay the Ornate Group Tk 5000 for each MLSS, and the amount will instead be added to each staff’s salary.

At present, each MLSS member is paid Tk 17,610, which is not sufficient considering the upward trend of inflation.

In the past, the MLSS members were eligible for two Eid bonuses and a New Year allowance. However, under the outsourcing policy of 2018 put in place by the Ministry of Finance, MLSS members were no longer eligible for these bonuses and allowances.
