The Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) has demanded an immediate price reduction of edible oil in the country as soybean prices marked a steep fall on the international market between the April-June period.
Since March, when soybean prices were $1,956 per tonne, they have fallen sharply by $492 per tonne, to $1,464 per tonne at the present time.
Despite a global decline in soybean prices, businessmen sat with officials from the commerce ministry and raised the price of soybean oil on two occasions in the May-June period, said a press release issued on Friday.
