More scope for OIC countries to work on tourism development

State Minister for Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali on Tuesday said the member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) had more opportunities and potential to work together in the development of tourism.

He made the remark at the opening ceremony of the 11th session of the ‘Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers in the Azerbaijan’s Baku on Tuesday.

The State Minister said upholding the cultural heritage, the tourism is the fastest growing industry which helps to earn foreign currency and create employment.

The regular conference by the OIC will further strengthen future cooperation and coordination among member countries to develop the tourism industry.

They have to work together to preserve culture and heritage of the OIC member countries, he said.

It will open up new opportunities and horizons for the economy, trade and commerce to come closer and build stronger bilateral relations, he further said.

Mahbub Ali said through continuous development, Bangladesh’s tourism industry is developing.

The private sectors have made significant progress in the Bangladesh tourism industry for a favorable investment environment, development-friendly activities, policy formulation and infrastructural development.

Bangladesh can be a popular tourist destination for the OIC countries for friendly people, warm hospitality, amazing natural beauty, rich culture and heritage and all the aesthetic antiquities, he said.

The 11th session of the ‘Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers’ will continue till 29 June.

Bangladesh, the current President in this session, will hand over the Presidency to Azerbaijan for the next two years.
