Bangladesh on Wednesday recorded 2,241 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, highest over four months while the daily infection rate slightly increased to 15.23 per cent.
The country recorded zero Covid-related deaths over the same period, keeping the tally at 29,145.
On Monday, the positivity rate was 15.20 per cent.
With the fresh infections, the total caseload reached 19,71602, according to the daily virus update by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meanwhile, 152 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, raising the overall recovery to 19,07,219.
Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 14,712 samples at 880 laboratories across the country.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8, 2020, and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 of the same year.
Globally, over 545.48 million people have been infected by the coronavirus and 6.33 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
