The Liberation War Affairs Minister, AKM Mozammel Haque, said that in order to build Bangabandhu’s “Shonar Bangla”, skilled human resources must be developed through a modern and up-to-date educational system.
“This objective is being worked on by industrialist Sufi Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, who was awarded the Ekushey Padak for his outstanding contribution to social service. He has been playing a notable role in developing human resources based on improved lifestyles,” the minister said.
Speaking as the chief guest, the minister made the remark while addressing the freshers’ reception ceremony held at the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) campus in the capital’s Baridhara on Monday afternoon.
Wishing the freshers a bright future, the minister said, “You have to build Bangabandhu’s “Shonar Bangla” in the same way that the dream of Padma Bridge has been realised under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu.”
At the event’s start, the minister launched the UITS app, an innovative tool that university students can easily access on their smartphones.
Presided over by University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Abu Hashan Bhuiyan, Alhaj Sufi Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, founder and chairman of UITS and PHP Family, addressed the event as the keynote speaker. As special guests, Brahmanbaria-1 MP Bodruddoza Md Farhad Hossain, former Tongi Municipality mayor Azmat Ullah Khan, and Mohammed Amir Hossain, member of the Board of Trustees of UITS, and managing director of PHP Family, were present at the ceremony.
Advisor to the Board of Trustees of UITS and former Dhaka University proctor Prof Dr KM Saiful Islam Khan participated in the discussion along with UITS Treasurer Prof Dr Siraj Uddin Ahmed and Law Faculty Dean Adv Dr Md Abdul Mannan Bhuyean.
Deans of the university’s faculties, heads of departments, renowned scholars, journalists, dignitaries, university teachers and students, alumni, officials, staff, and parents attended the event, where invited guests were greeted with flowers and honorary crests.
