BTRC, iBAS++ sign MoU on biometric verification, monitoring

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Finance Division over the use of biometric verification and monitoring platform.

BTRC and Integrated Budget and Accounting System (iBAS++) an initiative of the Finance Division inked the memoranda at a ceremony titled “Strengthening Public Expenditure Management: Ensuring Continuity of Priority Activities” held at the BTRC conference room on Sunday, said a press release issued by the BTRC.

BTRC Director General (Systems and Services) Brig Gen Md Nasim Parvez and Additional Secretary of Finance Division Begum Nazma Mubarak signed the memoranda on behalf of their respective organisations while BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikdar was on the chair.

As per the MoU, electronic fund transfer will be made by verifying the mobile number registered with the customer’s national identity card to mobile accounts of various beneficiaries under the G2P system by integrating with the Central Biometric Verification Monitoring Platform (CBVMP) of BTRC and iBAS++ of the Finance division.

Additional Secretary of Finance division Begum Najma Mubarak said the National Identity Card and Mobile Number of the Social Safety Net Programme and Pension beneficiaries will be verified through the CBVMP platform of BTRC and the genuine beneficiaries will get their due benefits.
