With the technical assistance and training from the SME Foundation, eight small enterprises secured ISO 22000 certification from the International Organisation for Standardisation in the last fiscal year for ensuring food safety in every stage starting from the production to the consumer level.
The foundation also set a target to extend support to eight more small and medium enterprises to get the international certification aiming to achieve the credibility of the customers.
The ISO certificates were handed over to the eight enterprises at an event in Dhaka on Monday with the foundation Managing Director Md Mofizur Rahman in the chair, said a press release.
The small enterprises are Safe Trading Corporation, Pratibha Trading, Abhijat Food and Beverage Industries, Masud Agro Processing Food Products, Bani’s Creation, Ayurvediya Pharmacy (Dhaka), Chhip Food BD, and Allwells Marketing.
SME Foundation Chairperson Masudur Rahman attended the event as chief guest.
“Now food and agricultural processing companies export products worth $50 crore. The SME Foundation will help the small enterprises to expand the export worth to $100 crore by 2030,” he said.
Till date, the SME Foundation helped 21 small enterprises to secure ISO certification.
The Technology Development Wing of the SME Foundation is working to achieve the goal set by the foundation to bring recognition to another eight enterprises in the current fiscal year.
The foundation is providing small enterprises with technical assistance to secure international standardisation certificates, train up entrepreneurs, and enhance awareness of Food Safety Management System (FSMS), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) since its establishment in 2007.
