Idea competition held to improve CHT women’s lives

An idea competition was organised in the capital on Tuesday to develop eco-friendly sanitary pads and improve cooking stoves for rural women of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT).

With technical assistance from a2i’s iLab and financial support from Global Affairs Canada, the Chittagong hill tracts affairs ministry and the United Nations Development Programme organised the competition at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre, said a press release.

Mosammat Hamida Begum, secretary of the ministry, took part in the event as the chief guest.

After scrutinising the ideas submitted by citizens, an esteemed jury board will select two sustainable and cost-effective ones.

Each of the ideas will get around Tk 25 lakh for seed funding to develop functional prototypes and piloting. The prize will be awarded at the end of the contest.

Interested people have been asked to submit their ideas by September 8.
