Leather products change Hazaribagh economic condition

Economic condition of the Hazaribagh has improved with diversified leather goods being produced there with the help of SME Foundation after the tanneries were shifted from there.

According to the information of SME Foundation it had a total of 177 clusters countrywide. Of them, the important one is in Hazaribagh. The economic condition of the Hazaribagh was very poor after removing tanneries and replacing them with the leather goods market.

Especially leather belts, wallets, shoes, parts, official bags and various types of products are now being produced there.

The owners of the tannery industry who shifted to Savar also focused on setting up leather goods factories on their factory premises.

As a result, more than 400 shops, showrooms and small leather goods factories have been established in various places from Hazaribag Tannery Junction to Leather College, Hazaribag Bazar and Dhanmondi 15 Lane. Export quality shoes, bags, and corporate leather products are being sold in this market with an annual turnover of around Tk50-60 crore.
