Covid: Five more die in 24hrs

Bangladesh recorded five new Covid-related deaths and 614 cases in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning.

The fresh casualties, the highest since July 27, pushed the overall death toll to 29,345.

The daily infection rate rose to 12.73 per cent as the health authorities tested 4,825 samples at 881 laboratories across the country.

On Monday, the test positivity rate was 11.60 per cent.

With the fresh infections, the total caseload reached 20,18,829, according to the daily virus update by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Meanwhile, 283 patients recovered from the infection over the last 24 hours, pushing the overall recovery to 19,61,260. Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8, 2020, and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 of the same year.
