‘Asian Fair to play positive role in tourism industry’

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali has said the Asian Tourism Fair will play a positive role in recovery of the tourism industry in the post Covid-19 period.

The fair will encourage both domestic and foreign tourists to travel, he said. He was speaking at a press conference on Sunday.

Apart from this, the participation of domestic and foreign tourism organizations in the fair will increase the opportunity of promotion of the tourism industry internationally.

The State Minister also said: “Our government is a tourism-friendly government. We hope that the tourism industry of this country will be able to reach the desired goal in the next few years with the concerted efforts of the government.”

He wished all the success of the Asian Tourism Fair and directed all the departments concerned to make use of this promotional opportunity by participating in it.

Bangladesh Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Abu Tahir Muhammad Zaber said they are working on a master plan and hopefully it will be done by December.

Mentioning that this fair will play an important role in taking tourism forward in our country, he further said a message will be sent through this fair that Bangladesh is ready for tourism.

“Foreign tourists can visit our country. We hope that foreign tourists and travel organizations will be more attracted through this fair.”

Bangladesh's largest international tourism fair ‘The Asian Tourism Fair’ will be held for the ninth time from September 29 to October 1 for three days at International Convention City in Dhaka’s Bashundhara. The fair will run daily from 10am to 7pm every day.

At the press conference, Chairman of the Asian Tourism Fair Mohiuddin Helal said eight countries and around 130 different tourism organizations including more than 50 foreign organizations from Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, India, Bhutan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Lithuania will participate in the fair.

Among the organization participating in the fair are hotels, motels, resorts, cruise lines, airlines, tour operators, theme parks and many other entertainment establishments.

The fair will have various attractive travel offers, hotel, resort or package bookings including special discounts on domestic and foreign travel in the upcoming tourism season, he said.

Mohiuddin said the entrance fee for the fair is Tk30. Raffle draw against the entrance fee will be held where the winners will have attractive gift vouchers with airline tickets.

In addition, each ticket will include a 50 percent discount on entry to the fair's entertainment partner - Fantasy Kingdom.

Ministry Secretary, high officials, tour operators and partner member officials were present at the press conference at Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka.
