Business Post’s Ripon wins tourism board award

The Business Post Photojournalist Shamsul Haque Ripon on Tuesday received an award in a photo competition arranged by Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB).

Two of Ripon’s photographs were awarded. One of those placed third in the "Bangladesh Tourism Board Photo Competition 2022". State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali handed over the cash prize.

“I have already visited different places in 56 districts of Bangladesh. I felt that whatever I am seeing needed to be held in memory. Since then, I started taking pictures,” Ripon said.

“Meanwhile, an online news portal offered me a job in 2012. That is when I started photojournalism professionally. I previously worked at Daily Kaler Kantho, Daily Vorer Pata, Priyo News, and NTV Online,” he said.

“I believe photojournalism is really a significant career. Because a photographer may capture multiple memories and historical events in a single image,” added Ripon.
